RER Community Food Bank
The RER Community Food Bank, founded in 1999, is a full-service food bank providing emergency food and household items to low-income individuals and families living in Rockdale County. The Food Bank helps ensure local residents experiencing food insecurity have access to the nutritional food needed to live an active and healthy life. Clients are referred by local social service agencies, churches, and, local community groups. RER also accepts self-referrals. Participants may visit the Food Bank once every three months, or a maximum of four times per year.

Emergency food is a critical step in addressing food insecurity and helping families regain stability. RER intervenes when families are struggling to provide food for themselves. Financial pressures such as unemployment, health care issues, housing, and low wages continue to strain the budgets of households with low to moderate incomes. Low-income households are often forced to choose between providing enough food for themselves or their families and paying rent and utilities to maintain stable housing. Middle-income families are also feeling the pressure, increasingly reporting difficulty affording groceries. RER’s Food Bank helps ease the immediate strain of food insecurity allowing families to spend their resources maintaining stable housing and finding employment, which will help get them back on the road to financial security.

The Food Bank accepts donations of non-perishable items Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm.
