We hadn’t been in a few months. So we had a long overdue much anticipated date night at Coaxum’s 5/8/26; which USED to be our FIRST choice date night spot. Because the live music, the ambiance, and the food USED to be 💯 Plus!!! BUT it’s changed, and not for the better in our opinions. We should have just left when they no longer had the menu items that we loved. 🤦🏾♀️That was our mistake. All I wanted was one of their juicy steaks, and a baked potato, and all my hubby wanted was The seafood platter. Neither were available on the menu anymore, 😩 We would have left were it not for the great band and service. We ordered oysters Rockefeller, as an appetizer, which were DELICIOUS; thank goodness we got there at happy hour to get cheaper drinks and the oysters were two dollars less. RE: The oxtails plate, the oxtails were decent, but the rice was so dry, like it had been rewarmed from the day before. There was no moisture left in it. 🤦🏾♀️ Since there was no seafood platter anymore (which used to have generous portions of fish, scallops, oysters,& shrimp), my husband had to order the fish plate and a side of shrimp. And the portions of fish left us shaking our heads like 😳 Where is the rest of it??? 🤷🏾♀️ It’s really like they downsize the menu, they downsize the plates, but are still charging the same or more for everything. This was the first time that we have ever left Coaxum‘s without a take-home plate Of leftovers. That’s how we know things have changed.🤦🏾♀️ And unfortunately, as much as we loved Coaxum’s, we’ve decided that WE WON’T BE BACK. We refuse to pay $126 (BEFORE TIP) for that type of food and drinks anymore. Not in this economy. It’s just not worth it. 🥺Especially since my husband is a great cook. The food was just mediocre. My husband saw that I was so hurt and this was Mother’s Day weekend, and he was treating me, that he gave me the rest of his fish and he took my oxtails. He ended up, cooking me a beautiful steak and baked potato the next day for Mother’s Day.

Very nice ambiance, and courteous server, but the food.....GOD AWFUL!! EVERYTHING was overly salty. The mini sweet potato cornbread muffins they serve the table were hard as rocks and not tasty at all. Not one thing we had was good. Not worth the money....extremely disappointing.

Wow, what a great meal. I had the blackened catfish and it was delicious. The sweet potato casserole was some of the best I’ve ever had. This was a really great meal and after a spinning time in South Carolina, I can definitely say they live up to the Gullah lifestyle. Angell, a server was on the spot with everything we could possibly need, she was fantastic and I have to give her this compliment. The entire meal was delicious and the service and atmosphere was over the top and our recommended place to all my friends. I would definitely be back.

My husband and I had an amazing dinner at Coaxums and the vibe was fun and the wait staff was phenomenal. Ask for Tina - she’s got your back!! We will definitely come again next time we are in town.

They recently changed their menu, and the way they engaged on how it taste was delightful. Everything was down right delicious, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. But the real reason why I’m here (which I don’t have a picture of) is that Peach cobbler! Hear me when I say the peach cobbler is a chefs kiss! Buttery, crispy, hot and a healthy serving with ice cream. Had on some good jams, great bar options, laid back vibes were really nice. 10 out 10 Recommend! I’m definitely coming back.
